Yesterday morning, I sent a brief note to the Lessonly team. The responses were encouraging, so now I’m sharing the same note with you:
What have you really appreciated about work lately? Has a recent change made your job better? Has someone’s behavior really inspired you? And if so, have you shared your appreciation yet?
We all know how motivating it is to be reminded that we matter, that we are valued and cared for, that the things we do are making a positive impact on others. So take some time this week to share your gratitude. Write someone a note, give someone a shout-out in a meeting, or just pull someone aside for a fist bump and a thank you.
Remember: Appreciation isn’t just about good vibes. It’s also a key to better work. The more we encourage the things we value, the more likely it is that people will keep doing them. In short, appreciation is just positive reinforcement by another name. So if something inspires or motivates you and you want to keep being inspired and motivated, reward the inspirers and motivators by thanking them for what they do and sharing why it matters to you.
I hope you have a great week!
